Titre | DDOS attacks against encrypted-mail providers are multiplying |
|
||
Description | While it may be tempting to see in it a political will to address the secure e-mail services (and some are already pointing the finger Israel without any evidence), the reason for the selection of such providers could be Messaging stupidly technique. All servers offer POP, IMAP and SMTP traffic for which can not be redirected to a filtering proxy server, as is the case with the HTTP protocol (used by most Web mail clients like Gmail, Yahoo or Live). The technique to use against DDOS attacks against email servers is to distribute traffic between different sort servers by holding an entire block of 256 IP addresses, and filter all to return only legitimate communications to or real mail servers. A technique that would cost several thousand dollars per month, can represent an excessive cost for small providers. Quite expensive, anyway, so they are tempted to pay the ransom. |
